Briars Lodge Field Centre is a well regarded resource for the East Grinstead Wildlife Explorer Group.
Many local schools, pre-school groups, mental health volunteers, scouts and guides are also regular visitors
The grounds cover a range of habitats including ponds, meadow, hedgerow studies, woodland exploration, composting and recycling.
The Barn provides a meeting place for visiting groups and has equipment to support all activities, the special favourite being pond dipping. The easy access to Ashdown Forest, Pooh Bridge and other Pooh Bear places as well as Hartfield village means groups can combine a walk to Pooh Bridge alongside their environmental activities
Briars Lodge is at the entrance to Ashdown Forest with four and a half acres of meadow, hedgerow and woodland. Run by Hilary and Dick Rowberry, it is established as a private, voluntary run, centre for environmental activities and aims to contribute to conservation and education; as well as offering environmental activity awards
