Founded in 1952, the East Grinstead and District Association for Mental Health is a small, local and self-funding organisation, run entirely by a committee of dedicated volunteers – including carers, people with mental health problems, and professionals.

One of the main aims of the Association is to raise funds in order to:

  • provide practical and financial assistance for people with mental health problems (including hardship grants, and contributions towards education etc)

  • provide meaningful activities for people with mental health concerns (eg. Art classes, conservation projects)

  • increase awareness of mental health challenges in the local area (eg. an annual display of books at the library to mark World Mental Health Day)

  • offer social events such as group outings to NT properties, art exhibitions and Christmas Lights
